“Blady upends expectations with this wily narrative and its possibly heartless heart,” The Hollywood Reporter.

Los Angeles, CA – April 22, 2019 – From One Can Pictures and in association with Zak Films and Studio Saboteur Jordan Blady’s ‘SOFTNESS OF BODIES’ will show at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills on April 30th.

Film Threat has exclusively revealed the teaser trailer for Jordan Blady’s directorial debut, SOFTNESS OF BODIES, in roundup: “April’s Best Indie Trailers“. Screening one-night only on Tuesday, April 30th at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills, watch the teaser trailer for SOFTNESS OF BODIES here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwJbz8WgKp0.

“Jordan Blady’s refreshingly concise first feature stands out from the pack with its strong performances and its incisive slant on millennial navel-gazing. It flirts with something darker every zigzagging step of the way, slipping seamlessly into noir territory with an expert jolt,” continued The Hollywood Reporter.

Writer-Director Jordan Blady’s SOFTNESS OF BODIES follows Charlotte “Charlie” Parks (Dasha Nekrasova), an American poet living in Berlin struggling to find recognition for her work. As Charlotte ambles about the city and interacts with her supportive roommate, Remo (Johannes Frick), she finally discovers an anchor in her life – becoming a finalist for a prestigious poetry grant. While seizing the opportunity to legitimize her career, the tendencies that complicate Charlie’s life resurface. Racing to finish a prize-winning poem and prevail over her rival, Sylvie (Nadine Dubois), Charlie gets caught in love triangle involving Franz (Moritz Vierboom) and Oliver (Morgan Krantz). As if her world wasn’t complicated enough, Charlie’s dangerous case of kleptomania catches up with her – leading to an arrest for shoplifting, constant financial woes and a mysterious pair of missing designer shoes. Struggling to find money and the words for her poetry submission, Charlie scrambles to maintain a life she barely wants – one with a laundry list of self-made troubles that keep her from artistic success.

Blady’s clever writing holds a sharp sense of rare humor, eliciting dark, frequent laughs in this interesting and unpredictable character drama. Similar to its charmingly abrasive protagonist, SOFTNESS OF BODIES is a compelling tale that gets darker and more seductive as it goes along. “A thrilling and engaging watch, SOFTNESS OF BODIES is a solid debut from first-time narrative feature film director Jordan Blady. It will appeal to the viewer who can identify with the struggling artist existence, and this coupled with the original poetry from Dasha Nekrasova herself, makes SOFTNESS OF BODIES a full artistic experience,” wrote Cinemacy.

SOFTNESS OF BODIES premiered at the 2018 Los Angeles Film Festival in September and was prestigiously nominated for the U.S. Fiction Award for Best Film. Recently, Blady’s Grisha’s Guide to Kiev competed in the Official Selection at this year’s 10th edition of Paris’ annual festival, ASVOFF. Awarded with the Grand Prix, Blady’s Ukrainian-based fashion film received spectacular reviews from Vogue and Forbes.

SOFTNESS OF BODIES will screen for one-night only in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills (9036 Wilshire Blvd.) on April 30th at 7:30 PM. For press passes and inquiries, please contact [email protected]

Alongside Dasha Nekrasova’s (Wobble Palace, The Sound of Blue, Green and Red) raw and riveting performance, SOFTNESS OF BODIES features nominated Morgan Krantz (CHIPS, series: New Girl and Girls), Nadine Dubois (Goodbye Berlin, 37), Alex Tschernek (Free Rainer, Slumming, Hannah Arendt), Lena Reinhold (Nos Petites Morts, Die Turnerin), Johannes Frick (Artist in Residence), Matthias Renger and Moritz Vierboom.
