Visual History Initiative’s Mission to Educate against Antisemitism

In a steadfast stance against Antisemitism, The Visual History Initiative emerges as a leader, using film to educate, inspire tolerance, and promote unity. With a commitment to its mission, the initiative produces, funds, and distributes thought-provoking content that aims to dismantle prejudice and foster understanding.

Using a broad reaching event, Visual History Initiative is set to host the “World’s Largest Online Event to Fight Anti Semitism” involving an online screening premiere of the film “The Walk” on October 11th, 2023.  Over 800 Synagogues and Jewish Community Centers worldwide have been invited to partake in this groundbreaking event, further underscoring the initiative’s commitment to igniting change on a global scale.

The Walk” is an award-winning short film that narrates the true story of a Jewish man from the US navigating life in Germany to be with his only daughter. Each day, as he walks through the town streets, accompanied by his faithful French Bulldog, he is confronted by reminders of the Holocaust. This daily experience compels him to reconnect with his Jewish heritage, igniting a powerful journey of self-discovery.

“We believe in the power of storytelling to shape perspectives, and we are resolute in our dedication to promoting acceptance and unity,” stated Adam Fried, founder of the Visual History Initiative.

Shaping a More Tolerant World

The heart of this non-profit endeavor lies in its commitment to supporting education through film. Over the past year, VHI has generously funded an array of impactful projects, including short films, feature-length documentaries, and an upcoming series centered around bridging cultures and uncovering hidden mysteries of WW2.

Another one of their creations is “Everything’s Kosher,” a captivating feature-length documentary due out in early 2024, that chronicles the remarkable journey of a Jewish man from the US through his unwavering love for his daughter, drives him to open a Jewish Deli in a German town marred by a history of Jewish persecution and Nazi influence during World War II.

The Visual History Initiative continues to use the compelling language of film to educate, inspire, and unite. By engaging with their films, sharing their stories, and contributing to their cause, individuals can actively help the fight against Antisemitism and foster a world that values diversity and understanding.
